Memories

The first semester in Ireland was a semester of learning and mainly a semester of (re)adaptation. In Brazil we have a lot of sunny days, and most of them are too warm. So I always enjoy the days of rain, I used to spend hours in the window watching the rain pour over the soil and listening the sound of the rain over the roof, while enjoying a good cup of coffee.

But since I arrived in Cork it is the opposite. Now I enjoy the sunny days much more, which are quite rare around here. In the sunny days, I usually take a book and go to read it in the living room, where I can feel the sun better than in my bedroom. I like to feel the warmth of the sunrays over my skin, it brings me a lot of good memories.

It is funny how things have changed. I value the sunny days much more now, maybe because they remember me about home or maybe because they are rare. When I go back to Brazil, the rainy days will have a different meaning, they will remind me about the good time I spent in Ireland.

I guess this is how life is. As we have new experiences, the things we like may change. This happens because we change a little bit every day. Being abroad and far away from the life I used to have makes it easier to see these little changes about myself. It shows me that the happiness doesn’t depend on what is currently happening in our lives, if most of days are sunny or rainy, but depends on how we face the each day. We can either complain about the rain or make a good coffee and enjoy it…
