Congratulations on being offered a place to study at MTU
This page will tell you all you need to know about preparing to come to Munster Technological University Cork Campus. Follow the links for further information.

Receiving your offer
1. You've received an Offer!
I have a Full Offer
To accept your full offer you must email internationalcork@mtu.ie and pay the required non-refundable deposit of €1000 to secure your place on your chosen programme. You have 3 weeks to pay the deposit. The date will be printed on your offer letter. You can find out how to pay further down this page at number 5.
This deposit will be deducted from the overall tuition fee.
The balance of the tuition fee must be paid in full by September 1, prior to registration. You can find out full fee and scholarship information here
I have a Conditional Offer
To accept your conditional offer you must email internationalcork@mtu.ie and pay the required non- refundable deposit of €1000 to secure your place on your chosen programme.You have 3 weeks to pay the deposit. The date will be printed on your offer letter. You can find out how to pay further down this page at number 5.
This deposit will be deducted from the overall tuition fee.
The balance of the tuition fee must be paid in full by September 1, prior to registration. You can find out full fee and scholarship information here
You must submit documents to meet your conditional offer by April 30 unless stated on your offer letter.
Deferrals
Deferrals will only be considered if you have paid your deposit in the specific time and there is space available. You can only defer once. You will lose your deposit if you do not take up your deferred place. Students are liable for any fee increases/scholarship changes.
Decline
If you do not want to take up a place of study at MTU, you can reject the offer by emailing internationalcork@mtu.ie
2. Find out more about living costs in Cork

3. Book your Accomodation
Due to high demand, we highly recommend you book and organise your accommodation early before you arrive to avoid disappointment.
4. Arrange your Health Insurance
All students must provide their own health insurance cover. It is also necessary for immigration purposes.
5. Pay your Fees
What must I pay
1. The deposit of €1000 in order to secure your place at MTU by the date printed on your letter.
2. The balance of your fees (after deposit) must be paid by 1 September.
When you apply for a study visa, you may need to have certain amount of your tuition fees paid. This is usually around €6000.
How can I pay
TransferMate
TransferMate is an easy to use online system to pay fees . All payments made this way can be tracked. Please ensure you use your student number in all correspondence.
Receipts
It can take a number of working days for payments to be received and processed by MTU, after which you will be issued with a receipt. You will need your receipts if you require a Study Visa. You can also use your receipt from TransferMate as proof of payment.

Refunds
If you are refused a student visa or if you do not meet the condition(s) of your offer, your deposit and tuition fees will be refunded in full. You will need to provide proof.
If you choose to withdraw by 31 October, MTU will retain €1500 of tuition fees paid.
6. Organise your Visa (if applicable)
The balance of your tuition fees (after the deposit) must be paid by September 1, before registration. When you apply for a study visa, you may need to have certain amount of your tuition fees paid. This is usually around €6000.

What do I do if I am refused a Visa
If you are refused a visa you may appeal the decision within two months. However, you would need to check with the MTU International Office if it is possible to have a delayed start as this is not usually allowed.
You may be entitled to refund of your deposit and fees.
You will not be allowed to defer your place if you have been refused a visa.

7. Make sure you inform yourself with the latest Arrival Information
8. Plan your Trip
You will be required to be present in Ireland at the start of September in time for orientation and classes.
International student registration and orientation will take place in September before programmes begin. You will be notifiied when dates have been set.

9. Prepare your Immigration travel documents
All Non-EU/EEA nationals are subject to immigration control at point of entry to the Irish State. Please ensure you comply fully with Irish immigration and have all required documentation.
You are advised to have the following documents in your hand luggage when you arrive in Ireland to present at border control:
- Passport (with your valid entry visa if you require one)
- MTU Offer Letter
- Travel details (confirmation of bus/train bookings)
- Accommodation details (confirmation of booking or address you will be staying at when you arrive
In addition, non-EU students must have the following additional documents on hand:
- Evidence of private medical health insurance with detailed coverage information (in English)
- Evidence of tuition fees paid, scholarship, sponsorship or funding details (e.g. US Financial Aid) (if applicable)
- Evidence that you have access to at least €7,000
- Application summary sheet and application letter

10.Bring your original application documents
We are required to verify your original physical documents as part of the registration process. Please make sure you have your original physical application documents (not photocopied) with you.
Please put into an envolope with your name and student number:
- original physical copy of your degree certificate,
- original physical copy of your transcript
- original physical copy of your English language certificate.
- original physical copies of any other documents used in your application e.g. technical certificates
You will drop off this envelope during orientation and will be able to pick it up at a later date.
After arrival
11.Attend Registration and Orientation
It is important you attend orientation and registration as we will be providing very important information to you.
International student registration and orientation (including International 1st year students) will take place on the Thursday and Friday the week before classes begin in September. Classes normally begin 2nd week in September for all students (2nd, 3rd, 4th and postgraduate courses). 1st Year Undergraduates normally begin the 3rd week in September.
12.Open a Bank Account
We will take you through the steps during orientation. You can't open an account until you are a fully registered student.
13.Register with immigration
We will take you through the steps to register during orientation. You can't register with immigration until you are a fully registered student with an Irish address.
14. Settle In.
